Our Family Connections
Our church identifies with all other Christian churches that are committed to the historic Christian faith. We would be grouped with those who are called Evangelicals – people found among a variety of denominations around the world. The term evangelical identifies those who have a high view of Jesus as God, a commitment to the Bible as authoritative, a belief that everyone needs to make a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord, and a belief that we are responsible to share the Good News about Jesus with others.
Our congregation is made up of people from a variety of church backgrounds as well as those who have no church background. We don’t put great stress on our denominational ties. On the other hand we are happily part of the family of churches grouped together in the Christian and Missionary Alliance denomination.
The Christian and Missionary Alliance
This denomination was founded by Albert Simpson, a Canadian, in 1887. Under his leadership two movements were brought together: one sharing the Good News in North America and one committed to sharing the Good News on other continents.
In Canada there are more than 420 churches affiliated with the C&MA, and over 2,000 churches in the USA. We are part of a larger, global Alliance family with more than 18,000 churches in over 80 nations.
Here in Alberta, our District Office provides leadership and support for over 100 churches. We also have our denominational school in Calgary – Ambrose University College.
Our denomination emphasizes a belief in Jesus as our Saviour, our Sanctifier, our Healer and our Coming King. We are strongly committed to sharing the Good News with people in our local communities and around the globe.
